If I need to cancel my cruise due to an emergency, will the cruise line refund my money?

If I need to cancel my cruise due to an emergency, will the cruise line refund my money?

No matter the reason for cancellation, if you are within the cancel penalty period, which is usually the final payment due date, you will be subject to the cancel fees from the cruise line. You should consider purchasing travel insurance to cover emergency situations. Prior to the final payment due date, any penalties assessed will be based on the fare type you booked.

All bookings for our organized group cruises, from 2025 forward, will incur a $100 per person cancel fee assessed by John Heath Travel, if your booking is cancelled any time after the booking is confirmed. This is in addition to any cruise line cancellation fees.

If you cancel before the final payment due date, the cruise line penalty depends on the deposit type chosen at the time of booking.

Celebrity Cruises

Refundable Deposit
For most sailings, if you cancel 90 days or more prior to sailing, you'll get a full refund. If you cancel less than 90 days prior to sailing, the regular Celebrity cancellation penalty will apply.

Non-Refundable Deposit
For most sailings, 90 days or more prior to sailing, you can change the ship and/or sail date, and your deposit will transfer, less a $100 per person service fee assessed by Celebrity. If you cancel, Celebrity will keep your deposit. If you cancel less than 90 days prior to sailing, the regular Celebrity cancellation penalty will apply.

We highly recommend travel insurance to protect you from unforeseen emergencies.
